Beach Day today/ More pictures

First Day in Cali: self-timer at (Jake's) Uncle Marty's beautiful house (that we almost never left)

Jake enjoying a home-cooked feast of left-over pasta and eggs with turkey.

Driving the borrowed VW bug across the Dumbarton Bridge... this is before we picked up our gangster-mobile... pictures of that to come.

An Explanation

of the title of our blog.

Two Thursdays ago we were checking out an apartment located on the southwest side of Stanford. It was occupied by a Spanish researcher named Antonio. The apartment was a little farther from the train station than the other places we were looking, so we wondered how difficult it would be to bike to the train station and downtown Palo Alto. For a second he searched his English vocabulary for the word "sweat". The search came up empty, so he responded that we would have "damp underpants" if we had to bike that far. When we made the decision to live a bit closer to town we were so excited that we would have dry underpants for the rest of the term that we decided to title our blog the way it is. Or something like that...

Our cooking skills are improving. After taking several baby steps over the course of the week going from pasta
to grilled turkey and cheese
 to eggs.

We finally took a giant leap and made meat(Frozen turkey burgers, but probably meat!).
We're also finally settled in and living right here:

California 10F(un)

Welcome to the Matt (and Jake) blog. Jake says it should be called the Palo Alto blog.
whatever. We decided to write a blog because everything is going awesomely and we want to tell you about it.

Jake and I arrived in California this past Tuesday and were living with Jake's uncle while we spent the week looking at apartments in Palo Alto. I'll be interning at a web start-up called Wildfire Interactive (http://wildfireapp.com/) here and Jake will be at an engineering firm called Weidlinger Associates (http://www.wai.com/) in nearby Mountain  View.

If you're curious about the blog name (you probably weren't), Jake will tell you about it. It has something to do with apartment hunting and a dude named Antonio but it's not particularly interesting.

Long story short, we found a great apartment at 543 forest avenue in downtown Palo Alto. It's a bit pricey which means we won't be eating much over the next couple of months, but it's big enough, newly renovated and in a great part of town.

Other than that, we bought cheap bikes, went grocery shopping (while fasting for Yom Kippur which meant we had uncontrollable urges to buy food and got bulk quantities of everything) and went to a Dartmouth alumni event. Life is good, weather is beautiful and california is awesome. We both start work tomorrow at 9 and are going to try to make dinner now. then watch a movie.

more posts to come. (with pictures hopefully!)
